Maintenance Repairs and Operations (MRO) stores are the “hub” of maintenance/engineering projects. The quality of MRO parts and the operation of the stores have a huge impact on Assets Availability, Reliability and the smooth running of production, distribution/sales operations or even internal office operations(facilities).
Unfortunately, most of the times, the running of MRO stores requires a team effort of various stakeholders, each of whom need to clearly understand and effectively play their roles. Most previous training & development interventions I have come across have been tailored to target each stakeholder group separately i.e. stores personnel, procurement, finance, maintenance, etc., leading to continued silo operations(even with SAP ERP in place), blame games and many frustrations, which each group protecting their interests (sometimes at the expense of others). These impact negatively on the MRO stores effectiveness.
What if you brought all the key stakeholders together in a room – what would happen?
Imprint’s Integrated Maintenance Stores Management (IMSM) course takes a multi-stakeholder approach – getting key personnel from Engineering stores, procurement, finance, maintenance, etc. together, integrating knowledge & skills concepts from various perspectives and training them together to get a team, transformed to work effectively & efficiently towards a common goal i.e. Revenue & Profitability Target.
We tested this approach with a Bottling Company in 2014 – with about 18 participants composed of maintenance planners, Engineering Managers, Procurement MRO buyers, Finance Stock/working capital controllers and Stores Personnel), and the results are remarkable;
This meant that we provided a better solution than previous interventions – notably, most of the stores personnel had never undergone a 3days training in the life-time in the past 10years or so!
